Islamorada Swordfish Charters

We offer daytime swordfish trips. These trips last anywhere from 8-12 hours, 25-35 miles offshore, in 1400-1700 feet of water. We target Swordfish with electric reels because we are dropping to the bottom with 10 pounds of lead. We rarely hand-crank swords because of this, but you are welcome to inquire about it. Average size fish are around 100 pounds, but we have seen them break the 700-pound mark at Bud-N-Mary’s.

Target Species

The target species for these trips are, of course, swordfish. During the summertime, we might see some mahi to catch on the way to our swordfishig grounds; we’re going to stop and catch em’. If we catch our limit of Swordfish, we may stop on the way back to do some deep dropping for Queen Snapper or Barrelfish.

If it’s a hardcore swordfish trip, we’ll go straight out. When you’re swordfishing, you don’t want to waste too much time.  With the depths we’re fishing, each drop can take about an hour, hour and a half. Some of these swordfish fights can take anywhere from 30 minutes to over five hours.  Sometimes we might get lucky and catch a pumpkin swordfish, though it’s a rarity.

Where We Fish

We’re heading 25-35 miles offshore of Islamorada, fishing the depths around Floyd’s Wall. This iconic Swordfishing spot is where the Atlantic drops off from 1500′ to 3,000′. Were fishing the upper ledge of the wall with mahi belly, bonita belly, bonita strips, and occasionally squid.

What's Included

Hop on the Buzz On, where we’ve got everything covered! Just bring your snacks, lunch, water, and beverages (alcohol ok). We have a large cooler packed with ice.

All rods, reels, and Swordfish tackle are included in the price so you can focus on what really matters, reeling in a giant. Your trip will include all the necessary fishing licenses for the day. The crew will clean and fillet your catch for you to take home at the end of the trip.

The vessel can accommodate up to 6 anglers comfortably, it’s great for families, novice anglers, and die-hard anglers alike. We pride ourselves in maintaining a clean and tidy boat. It’s open and comfortable with all of the amenities you need for a long day on the water. Comfortable seating, two big benches, a countertop for making lunch, a bathroom, and air conditioning.

We’ve got a Bluetooth stereo to connect to your device and play your music of choice.

What To Bring

Come prepared for the weather. We recommend long-sleeved SPF apparel and pants. In the Keys, rain can pop up at almost any time, so a rain jacket is great to have handy, but sometimes the rain is a great cool down during a hot day on the water. Be sure to bring all the food and beverages you’ll need for a day on the water.

If you want to bring your own fishing tackle, you’re welcome to bring it, but we use only the best rods, reels, and tackle.
